Winner: Dara Olmsted

Dara Olmsted’s winning entry was randomly drawn from the group of 20 correct answers we received.

She knew that the photograph of the word “Gold” came from the Gold Star Memorial Library (115 Broadway) in East Somerville (aka the East Branch of the Somerville Public Library).

Dara and her boyfriend, Brian Silverstein, spotted gold on their way home from Vinny’s (76 Broadway), where they had just savored a standout dinner. We were thrilled to learn that Dara and Brian gave Vinny’s a shot after reading about the restaurant in our Winter, 2010 edition!

Dara and Brian are planning to use their winnings to try another Somerville joint: Highland Kitchen (150 Highland Ave).

Of course, Dara wasn’t the only entrant with an eye for gold. Carolyn Scimemi told us, “While I instantly recognized the photo, I was totally surprised when my six-year-old son, Maxwell, identified the picture. Right off the bat he said, ‘Gold Star Library.’

“He recognized it as our local library, where we check out books and mommy and daddy go vote. Though he left out the word “Memorial” from the name, I nevertheless want to enter him in the contest.” We’re glad you did, Carolyn!
