BALL SQUARE

Sound Bites (704 Broadway, 617-623-8338) has extended its hours to 9:30 pm Monday through Saturday. (It still closes at 4:00 pm Sundays.) A full bar is also now available.

Correction from Spring 2009 edition: Eat at Jumbo’s (not Jumbo’s Pizza and Wings) opened in April.

DAVIS SQUARE

Boston Sports Club (1 Davis Sq, 617-776-0086) is undergoing construction to expand its facilities, adding a second floor and increasing its square footage by 50 percent. The BSC is also adding a spin studio. The re-grand opening is scheduled for July 7.

Joshua Tree (256 Elm St, 617-623-9910) had a face lift: a fresh paint job, refinished floors, new furniture and a new sign.

La Chic Boutique (235A Elm St, 617-776-7706) opened in May. The Davis Square shop buys and sells jewelry, name-brand purses, home video games, antiques and other items.

Namaskar (234 Elm St, 617-623-9911) obtained an entertainment license. It now has belly dancing every Friday night.

EAST SOMERVILLE

Artilicious Concepts (155 Broadway, 857-654-2223) opened in April. The boutique and art gallery offers contemporary art, jewelry, wigs and more.

Tapatio (82A Broadway) in East Somerville opened March 3 serving Mexican food cafeteria style.

SPRING HILL

Café Rossini (278 Highland Ave #B, 617-625-5240) has changed its name to Café Lola. There’s a new, sharp-looking red awning, and inside the swanky re-done storefront is the same superb selection of sandwiches, pizza, pastries and coffee drinks.

TEELE SQUARE

Assemble & Conquer (1152 Broadway) opened May 23. It is the brick-and-mortar home of three skateboarding brands: RAW, RAW Private Stock and The Positive Kit.

Teele Square Café (1153 Broadway, 617-625-0082) opened in April. It’s a family-friendly restaurant serving homemade comfort food (including Christina’s ice cream).

UNION SQUARE

Choices Restaurant and Lounge (381 Somerville Ave, 617-625-4975) is now open until 2:00 am Friday and Saturday nights (i.e., Saturday and Sunday mornings). Also, Choices is now serving fresh, made-to-order Caribbean food, and has introduced a “Tickle Me Tuesday” comedy night to its weekly schedule.

Housed inside “The Fringe Movement” (13 Olive Sq), Patch Studio is slated to open in mid-July. It’s a design studio and consultancy focused on branding, production, sourcing, artist representation and public relations.
